research, fostering scientific freedom and responsibility, science journalism, and service to scientific community were distributed at the 1987 Annual Meeting of the Association in Chicago last month. The Philip Hauge Abelson Prize, the Scientific Freedom and Responsibility Award, and the Behavioral Science Research Prize were presented immediately preceding the president's Public Lecture, Tuesday, 17 February. The AAAS-Westinghouse Science Joumalism Awards were given during the National Association of Science Writers' annual banquet at the Meeting, Monday, 16 February.
